Jason Schwartz, bass
Jason began playing music at the age of 10, studying clarinet
and eventually bass clarinet later in high school.  His affinity
for low-register instruments led him first to the electric bass
and then to the upright.  Jason is also a skilled composer, and
graduated from Westfield State College in Massachusetts with
degrees in both composition and jazz studies.  He has learned
primarily from composer Dr. Andrew Bonacci, jazz artist Ted
Levine, bassists Dave Shapiro and Dr. Alexander Pershounin,
and pianist/arranger Jim Argio. Jason has also been a student
of jazz giant Michael Formanek.

The Jason Schwartz Project’s debut album green horizon
showcases the group’s masterful lyricism with a nod to jazz in
the traditional style.  The Jason Schwartz Project has been
chosen for Hartford’s 2006 First Night Celebration as well as
the Greater Hartford Festival of Jazz.

Jason has performed with the Rat Pack impersonators from Las
Vegas, clarinetist Perry Robinson,  "Hipmotism's" Erik
Lawrence, pianist Warren Byrd, reedist Ted Levine,  trumpeter
Saskia Laroo, and vocalist Mary Taylor.  Recent performances,
CDs, and/or other projects that Jason has been fortunate
enough to be included in are:  Reincarnation, The Chris
Bakridges Trio, Latin Quarter Jazz Collective, The Tom Parker
Ensemble, The Jonathan Edwards Group featuring Perry
Robinson, and Andy DiRuzza and friends.
